Possible References
- Ts'aishen's name is a Wade-Giles romanization of the Chinese word "财神 (Pinyin: cái shén)/財神", which refers to the God of Wealth in Chinese folk religion and Taoism. In Chinese culture, the God is commonly referred to as "财神爷 (Pinyin: cái shen yé)/財神爺", where the character "爷/爺" is used as a respectful form of addressing a male, especially of high status. This reflects Ts'aishen's theme of wealth and hence his design.
