Game Description
Many people make the mistake of thinking this dragon is the result of an impossible breeding combination between the sun and moon dragons. Instead, this dragon is born only when celestial bodies align properly. Although a wonder to behold, the wizards do not recommend staring directly at them... something about burning your eyes out?

Breeding

The Solar Eclipse Dragon can be bred using any two dragons, in either order, containing the Fire, Earth and Air elements, at any Breeding Cave.

Obtaining

During Suncrest Soirée, the Solar Eclipse Dragon could be purchased for Magic template 9,000.

Notes

  • The affiliated decoration, the Umbral Sculpture, was released six days earlier than the Solar Eclipse Dragon.
  • The moon on the Solar Eclipse Dragon's egg is the same as the moon on the Blue Moon Dragon's egg and tail, only darkened. If you look closely, you can see the same "dragon" design on the Moon Dragon and the Moon Habitat.
  • Initially, the Solar Eclipse Dragon was available at level 14 but the level availability was changed on October 9, 2013, to level 16.
  • The Solar Eclipse Dragon uses the same body as the Cold Dragon for both its baby and Adult forms.
  • The Solar Eclipse Dragon's availability usually corresponds with solar eclipses that happen in real life. For example, in 2017, the Solar Eclipse Dragon was made available for ten days-from August 14th to August 24th-which corresponded with the Great American Eclipse of 2017.

Possible References

  • The Solar Eclipse Dragon's description states, "Many people make the mistake of thinking this dragon is the result of an impossible breeding combination between the sun and moon dragons". This is likely a reference to the rumor of a non-existing Eclipse Dragon before this dragon was released.
  • The Solar Eclipse Dragon's description states, "something about burning your eyes out?". This is a reference to the fact that, if you stare directly at a solar eclipse without proper eye protection (such as welding masks or eclipse glasses), it can cause enough damage to your eyes to blind you.
  • The Solar Eclipse Dragon's egg design is likely a depiction of the astronomical movements of celestial bodies during a solar eclipse.
