Lapis lazuli would make a good gem dragon if the designers really enhanced the gold hints found in the stones. tourmaline would also make a colorful gem dragon if 3 of the colors faded into each other on the dragon. So many beautiful gems to pick from.
I was talking about tourmaline, for it comes in many colors, but like the stones that have at least 3 colors fading into one another.Think the concept of tourmaline would make an unusual dragon. Colors from yellow gold to pink then to red on the violet hue.
Just for fun, did some investigating on Tourmaline. Found something which goes along with our dragon concepts, ancient mythology believed tourmaline got all of it's colors by rising from the earth & passing thru a rainbow. The designers could use that in the description of the gem dragon. I think tourmaline is an Oct. gem stone.
Blue star, you made me think to get off the concept of only a gem dragon & maybe tourmaline could work as another dragon for the rainbow habitat. Just a thought. The coloring doesn't follow the rules of a color wheel like the rainbow does. It can have pink next to green etc.
I agree, not sure why it was put in a rainbow hab, unless if it is stretching the idea of the Irish leprechaun & the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Anything in the rainbow habitat needs to be larger & more dramatic.
I think toumeline would be a beautiful new dragon... If they did it right, if they screw it up, it could be pretty bad... Another cool gemstone could be alexandrite, because it changes from pink/red in one lighting to blue/green in another. It would be so cool to have a dragon that changes colors...
